Frequently Asked Questions
Are you my primary care provider?
No. Kentucky Health Advocacy is not a replacement for your primary care provider. I work alongside your existing healthcare team to provide specialized support for complex symptom investigation, chronic disease management, and care coordination.
While I can help identify what's happening and coordinate your care, I do not serve as your ongoing primary care doctor or handle routine preventive care, acute illness visits, or emergency situations. I partner with your PCP and specialists to ensure you're getting comprehensive, coordinated care.
Do you diagnose conditions and prescribe medications?
I do not diagnose conditions or prescribe medications through this practice.
My role is to:
Investigate symptoms thoroughly and develop differential diagnoses
Identify gaps in previous workups and recommend appropriate testing
Optimize existing treatment plans in coordination with your prescribing providers
Help you understand your diagnoses and treatment options
Coordinate care between specialists
Advocate for necessary testing, referrals, or treatments
If medication changes are needed, I work with your prescribing provider (PCP or specialist) to communicate recommendations based on evidence-based guidelines. All clinical recommendations follow current evidence-based practice guidelines.
What does “evidence-based practice” mean?
Evidence-based practice means my recommendations are based on current research, clinical guidelines, and proven outcomes—not trends, anecdotes, or outdated protocols. I stay current with medical literature and professional standards to ensure you're getting care that's supported by science.
This also means I'm transparent when evidence is limited or conflicting, and we'll discuss your options openly so you can make informed decisions about your care.
Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. This allows for extended appointment times without insurance restrictions on what we can discuss or how long we can spend together.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay?
Yes! Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) can be used for all services. Our consultations qualify as eligible medical expenses under IRS guidelines.
